MPVCD Presents Breaking Surface

Moraporvida Contemporary Dance (MPVCD) presents an evening of dance filled with passion, storytelling, and captivating works.
“Breaking Surface” serves as the first evening of dance that the company has produced after 3 years due to the climate of the world and the need to keep our audiences safe.
The evening features a collection of entertaining and powerful works that explode with passion, thought and exploration of the human condition. The evening features the MPVCD Ensemble, works from Artistic Director Jacob Mora, guest performances and an incredible collection of sounds, music and scoring on top of contemporary and modern movements that has cemented the company with a powerful entertaining signature.
Some showcasing dances on the ticket include Two Company Premiers entitled “Insomnia” and “Holding Air” from artistic Director Jacob Mora. In addition to these dances fan favorites of the company rep will be performed in this evening as well.
“Insomnia” is a remarkable dance that takes the audience on a compelling journey on the thoughts that keep some awake at night. This new work carries a fun and dark scoring of music accompanied by a tableau of movement that explore the nocturnal memories thoughts and space that many may have.
“Holding Air” shares an equally powerful set of sounds but with quick paced movements that abstractly deal with the importance of breath as power, submission relief and emotion.
Set in the historic building of the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, this evening is a must see. Please join the MPVCD community as we Break Surface.
